This is the classic green-podded pole bean, gardeners' choice for generations! The reason is simple: mouth-watering flavor that just won't quit -- though the heavy yields and great adaptability to adverse conditions don't hurt, either! This season, grow the classic pole bean and find out why it's still the most popular, many decades after its introduction!

Kentucky Wonder sets pods that are 9 inches long and bulging with succulent brown seeds--that meaty, extra "beany" taste that can only come from the home garden! The pods are slightly curved, and if you pick them young enough, they will be stringless.

You can use Kentucky Wonder beans for fresh eating, for canning and freezing, and for drying as shell beans. Remarkably adaptable, they keep their flavor and texture over a long period, so even if your harvest is delayed, you can be sure of great eating.

The plants are very widely adapted, producing heavily in a range of climates and conditions. They continue to set new beans all season long, bringing you bushel baskets full over the course of many weeks!

Many gardeners prefer pole beans for their distinctive "beany" flavor. Because they use vertical space, they free up the horizontal rows in the vegetable garden for other varieties. They're easier than bush beans to harvest, as well. You just can't go wrong with Kentucky Wonder!

Direct-sow the seeds after all danger of frost, and for best harvest, keep sowing at 3-week intervals until late spring. You can also sow in late summer and early fall (up to about a month before the first frost) for a fall harvest. Support the 5- to 8-foot vines on a trellis, tower, or poles spaced 3 feet apart. And this season, consider growing a Three Sisters companion planting of corn, beans, and squash!
