Giganteum offers the largest pods of all the Poppy family, making an incredible addition to any flower garden. Sometimes growing to a height of four feet, Giganteum offers blooms of off-cream with a purple center that can be over six inches wide. With a foliage base similar to that of lettuce, a single stalk will rise high into the air, adding important structural height for any garden. But it is Giganteum’s incredible seed pod which is often talked about, which is the largest poppy pod on the planet. Often called the Florist’s Poppy, this species of poppy produces a huge sculptural seed pod which can be used for flower arranging, or left in situ through the winter to catch the morning frosts and dew. An annual variety, Giganteum is very easy to grow and will produce a multitude of seeds at the end of the season. Sowing this packet of poppy seeds in the fall or early spring will bring this huge Breadseed variety to any garden, and fill it with soft blooms and rich seed heads that will enthrall throughout the seasons.
